Comments: Repair or Replace
I’ve seen this same problem at two house this past week.  Trend?
GFCI for the Kitchen is wired incorrectly.  The Hot/Neutral are reversed – the GFCI will not work properly when the wiring is reversed.  The test function button has a crack in the button itself.  Recommend replacement of the GFCI and have the device wired correctly.  A Licensed Electrician can make this repair for you – or a handy man with knowledge of electrical systems.
